This drawing, with four figurative partial studies, also served in Bloemaert’s atelier partially as a model for a painting. The sketch of a child drinking from a bowl in the upper right reappears in a painting entitled Liberalitas1, which was engraved by Cornelis Bloemaert the Younger (1602-1692) in 16252.
Abraham Bloemaert repeated the cursory study of the head of the recumbent child, slightly enlarged and considerably more refined, on the lower margins of this sheet.
