Considered autistic, the artist early on showed an extraordinary gift for drawing and carving animals. Because of his particular preference for depictions of all kinds of cats, he soon became known as the “Cat Raphael.”

As is the case with this drawing, most of Mind’s works are confined to a small format, but nevertheless convey a lively realism astonishing for the period.
