This large-format drawing dates from shortly after Müller’s studies at the academy in Dresden. He soon took part in the Secession exhibition there and encountered Max Klinger, who helped him as an advisor and role model. From 1900 on, Müller himself taught at the Dresden academy, where he counted, among others, Otto Dix, George Grosz and Richard Scheibe as his students.
